  First Graders love writing stories and creating books! We are working on high quality writing and what that looks like for a First Grader. We love sharing our writing, reflecting on what we can revise, and collaborating with others to write books.

Becoming Readers

  First Graders are working hard to look for books that are just right for them and meet their interests. We believe strongly in the power to choose the books that we read. First Graders are learning how to create a "Smart Stack" of books that will help them to grow stronger as a reader. Our readers work hard to decode words using decoding strategies, think about their reading using metacognition, and share the joy of reading through reading with peers and sharing books they love!
